Jerpoint Abbey
County Kilkenny, Ireland © Barry Thomas Hendrickson Jerpoint Abbey is one of the finest Cistercian ruins in Ireland. It was established by a king of Ossory in the 12th century. Pictured here is a crossing tower and cloister from the late 14th or early 15th century. The cloister with it’s rounded arches supported a lean to roof which covered the four sides.
