An ancient monastic settlement established in the early 6th century, it is nestled beside two dark lakes. St. Kevin’s, Glendalough’s unique early Irish church with its’ round tower and steep stone roof dates back to the 11th century. In spite of many Viking raids, this settlement managed to grow and flourish for over six centuries.
