Famine Cottage

In such a picturesque setting, it is hard to imagine the suffering of the Great Famine which hit this area of West Kerry particularly hard. Though there was more than enough food produced in the country to feed its population, the British rule of the time chose to export these goods abroad rather than feed the Irish people.
